About DescribeYourself
A community — not a dating app. A movement — not a social network.
Our Story
DescribeYourself was born out of a simple observation: Portland is full of interesting, active, open-hearted people who want real connections — but most platforms make that harder, not easier. Dating apps reduce people to a photo and a swipe. Social media is noise. Generic meetup groups feel impersonal.
We built DescribeYourself to be different. Our platform is centered around shared activity — the belief that the best way to meet someone is to do something together. A pickleball game. A walk through the Tualatin Hills. Lunch at a new food cart pod. Simple, real, Portland.
Our Mission
To create a warm, inclusive, activity-first community where Portland locals can meet like-minded people, form genuine friendships, and spend more time outside — together.
Our Community Values
- 🤝 Respect First — Every member is treated with dignity. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
- 🌍 Inclusive & Welcoming — All ages, backgrounds, and experience levels are welcome. Portland is diverse; so are we.
- 🏃 Activity-Centered — We connect around doing, not scrolling. Get outside, get moving, get eating.
- 🔒 Safe Spaces — This is not a dating platform. Romantic solicitation or inappropriate messaging will result in immediate removal.
- 🌱 Community-Driven — Members help shape events, suggest walks, recommend carts, and build the culture together.
